CCTV News reported on June 14: An explosion at a chemical plant in the city of Firuzabad in Iran's southern Fars province on the afternoon of the 13th left more than 100 people injured and no deaths have been reported.

According to the semi-official Iranian Students News Agency, the explosion at the chemical plant, which produces sodium bicarbonate, is suspected to have been triggered by an ammonia leak. Footage from the scene showed a large amount of white smoke pouring out of the plant, wrapping around the main building, with only the roof visible.

Firefighters have extinguished the blaze caused by the explosion. The Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency reported that the number of injured had reached 112. The injured were taken to hospital or treated at the scene, most of them for smoke inhalation.

The road near the chemical plant was closed due to the spread of toxic gases. Local authorities have launched an investigation and the final number of injuries and economic damage is yet to be confirmed.

This is the latest security incident in Iran.。

Due to the special nature of chemical plants, which are more sensitive to liquids, it is recommended that chemical plants install a liquid leak detection system, which can detect leaks in time for them to be dealt with by issuing an alarm. The ammonia leak detection alarm system, as a system for monitoring ammonia leaks, should be able to monitor ammonia leaks at any point on the sensing line at the earliest stage of the leak, accurate to every metre. In the event of a leak, an audible and visual alarm should be triggered, activating the dry contact and alerting those on duty in various alarm modes such as audible and visual, telephone, SMS and monitoring platform to deal with the ammonia leak in advance to prevent further aggravation of the disaster.

The ammonia leak detection and alarm system is equipped with a leak detection detector, acid & bases sensing cable, jumper cables and the necessary auxiliary equipment. Its function is to monitor ammonia leaks, disconnections and alarms via various protocols.

In view of the special characteristics of chemical plants, gas is also the need to focus on monitoring objects, can be synchronised with the installation of gas leak detection system, can simultaneously monitor some harmful gases, once the leak occurred in a timely alarm to remind the treatment.
